Discover the Garmin Connect custom integration

Picture this: August 2021, a pivotal moment for Home Assistant as the 2021.8 version rolled out, bringing both excitement and unforeseen challenges for Garmin users and Home Assistant enthusiasts alike.

In the blink of an eye, the familiar sight of Garmin data seamlessly integrated into their Home Assistant dashboard became unavailable, leaving users yearning for those sport metrics. It was simply no longer possible to integrate Garmin metrics into Home Assistant.

This struggling situation has been triggered by a change on the Garmin API as reported in the release notes:

Software configuration

• Home Assistant version 2024.2.5

• HACS installed. Here for more details

• Home Assistant Android companion app version installed on your smartphone

• Mobile App integration configured. This integration allows the Home Assistant mobile app to connect to your Home Assistant core environment
